The festival, described as a cornerstone of the global celebration of African music, is set to light up Portimão, Portugal, from July 3rd to 5th, 2026, in the beautiful coastal area of The Algarve. Since its inception in 2019, Afro Nation has grown from a summer gathering into a transformative space for African artistry. Founded by visionary Nigerian entrepreneurs, Obi Asika and Smade, the event remains a vital platform for Afrobeats, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, Dancehall, and other genres rooted in African culture.

As Afro Nation continues to deliver monumental moments, it brings together returning favourites and fresh energy. Asake and Wizkid, both performers who have previously graced the festival stage, return once again, while Tyla, whose impressive work rate since her breakout has solidified her status as a South African superstar, joins the lineup for what promises to be an unforgettable performance.

The festival will also feature a special guest performance from American rapper, Gunna, whose latest album, One of Wun, features Afrobeats artistes like Burna Boy and Wizkid. Gunna’s single with Burna Boy, “wgft”, is one of this year’s biggest Hip-Hop-meets-Afrobeats collaborations.
This year’s edition also marks the return of The Piano People stage, which will be headlined by the accomplished duo of Madumane and Focalistic, spotlighting Amapiano’s infectious rhythms through performances by Daliwonga, Mellow & Sleazy, and Zee Nxumalo, among others. Joining the main LIT Stage and Piano People stage will be a new stage, Afrotonic, a much-welcome celebration of the beautiful intersection of African music and electronic sounds.
