Tems is the only Nigerian on the winners’ list.

Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artiste, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has been announced as a recipient of the 2023 Trailblazer Award at the 2023 ELLE Style Award. Tems is the only Nigerian on the winners’ list. Other awarded personalities include Florence Pugh, Sarah Burton, Martine Rose, Suki Waterhouse, and Gemma Chan.

While receiving the award, Tems said, “To be here today reminds me of what it is to be from Lagos Nigeria, it’s such a different environment. It motivates me to keep going because honestly, the only thing I remembered was that I’m not here for myself – I wouldn’t be standing here if it wasn’t for God, for Jesus. I am so grateful to be in this environment looking at your beautiful faces.”
Tems was also featured as one of ELLE magazine’s October cover stars.
