In Your Image | Poem by Tuke Ronald

in your image

As if my arms were in chains

As though my legs were cuffed to the ground

I am as a prisoner

In a story not of my making.

I wake to the musings that tear me apart

In the cell in which I was born

My mind and soul grow closer and yet further from the bars that hold me

From my imprisonment,

I see no other inmate,

No one else chained besides me.

I live in an enclosure

Filled with misery and contempt

And he that holds me

I never see

He that has me chained

I never know.
