Nigerian track and field sprinter, Favour Ofili, has once again etched her name into the history books by setting a new world record in the women’s 150-metre sprint. Her record-breaking performance took place at the prestigious Adidas Atlanta City Games, where she clocked an astonishing time of 15.85 seconds, surpassing the previous mark of 16.23 seconds set by Shaunae Miller-Uibo in 2018.
The 22-year-old’s groundbreaking performance marks a significant milestone for Nigerian track and field, reinforcing the country’s growing presence on the international athletics stage. Reacting to her record-breaking run, Ofili wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “For the Lord is good”.

Also representing Nigeria at the event was world record holder and 100m hurdles champion Tobi Amusan, who finished second in her heat with a time of 12.53 seconds, just behind American Keni Harrison’s 12.44 seconds. Amusan’s performance secured her a place in the final later that day.
