Writer-director, Prosper Light, is set to release a new short film, A Rainbow for Christmas (2025), on the 12th of December, 2025. A queer-centred story, A Rainbow for Christmas is described as a heartfelt statement on identity, courage, and love, promising audiences not only a story about a queer man, but a universal narrative about acceptance, the courage it takes to live truthfully, and the love that makes it possible.
The synopsis of the five-minute drama reads: “The film follows Ezra, a young man struggling to find the strength to come out to his family on Christmas Eve. What unfolds is a tender, emotional confrontation that mirrors the experiences of many within the queer community—moments filled with fear, hope, and the longing for unconditional acceptance”.

A Rainbow for Christmas continues Light’s commitment to reshaping cultural narratives and amplifying underrepresented voices, following his earlier films, from The Sun’s Glory (2025), a film about albinism awareness, to ALADI, which examines marital rape and domestic violence. This filmmaking ethos is reflected in his brand, OGWA Studios (Original Gripping Works of Art), which bears the motto: “Authentic stories, boldly told.”
“This story is deeply personal. “It’s not just about coming out; it’s about coming home to yourself—even when love feels uncertain,” Light says about A Rainbow for Christmas. He adds, “I’ve always believed in the power of visibility, “Representation isn’t just about being seen—it’s about being understood. That’s what this film stands for.”
A Rainbow for Christmas will premiere at OGWA Studios’ annual cultural event, Games Night with Prosper Light: Big Screen Edition, which, as Afrocritik previously reported, is scheduled to take place on 12th December 2025 at the British Council Garden in Ikoyi, Lagos.
