In the days following the 2026 AMVCA, one video in particular captured the attention of fashion lovers online. Popular fashion critic Hanan Besovic, widely known as ideservecouture, sparked conversation after comparing the just-concluded AMVCA to this year’s Met Gala, which took place only a few days earlier, boldly remarking that the fashion statements seen at the African award ceremony surpassed those at fashion’s biggest night.
While the comparison may seem ambitious or unnecessary to some, the reaction is not entirely surprising. Over the years, the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has evolved into more than just a celebration of African film and television. Beyond honouring the actors, filmmakers, and creatives shaping the continent’s cinematic identity, the ceremony has also become one of the most important fashion moments on the African entertainment calendar.

Fittingly, this year’s theme, “Honouring Craft, Celebrating Culture”, was reflected through both the artistry on screen and the fashion statements that defined the night, all while staying true to the AMVCA’s founding purpose of championing excellence in African storytelling, visual artistry, and culture.
And true to form, the fashion arrived with a statement of its own. Here are some of the best celebrity looks from the 2026 AMVCA.
Osas Ighodaro
One thing Osas Ighodaro will always do is make a grand fashion statement at the AMVCA, which is why she also earned a spot on our best celebrity looks list last year. For the 2026 edition, she returned with yet another bold and unforgettable ensemble designed by Veekee James.
The figure-hugging column dress, detailed with sparkling red stripes, sculpted her frame beautifully and created a striking, elegant silhouette. Elevating the look even further was a matching, structured headpiece that added a theatrical, avant-garde edge, transforming the entire outfit into high-fashion art.
Kiekie
With her film Gingerr earning nine nominations at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Nigerian actress Bukunmi “Kiekie” Adeaga-Ilori arrived at the ceremony in a look worthy of the occasion. Designed by Clasikqdiane, her golden ensemble was a masterclass in glamour and theatrical elegance.
The fitted mermaid gown, adorned with sparkling embellishments, embraced her silhouette beautifully, while flowing pleats and an extended train introduced movement and grandeur to the look. Stan Nze
Stan Nze rarely misses an opportunity to proudly represent his culture on a grand stage, and his appearance at the 2026 AMVCA was no exception. Styled by AMDIDDY, the actor stepped out in a sharp all-black traditional ensemble that balanced elegance with commanding presence.

Her gown was crafted as a towering Gothic cathedral brought to life in fabric and form, sculpted in intricate layers of stone-grey, aged ivory, and metallic silver. The design featured dramatic spires, flying buttresses, pointed arches, tracery window details, and delicate cross motifs crowning the structure, creating an architectural silhouette that felt both monumental and otherworldly.
Deyemi Okanlawon
Deyemi Okanlawon brought undeniable main-character energy to the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, delivering a look that fused cinematic presence with high-fashion intensity. Uche Montana
Uche Montana, recipient of the Trailblazer Award, which honours emerging talents making a significant impact in African film and digital storytelling, delivered one of the most striking moments at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
She appeared in a breathtaking red creation designed by TUBO, a gown that immediately commanded attention with sculptural detail. The bodice was a figure-hugging, intricately constructed piece, layered with gold beadwork and sequins that shimmered with every movement. A daring plunge neckline was elevated with cascading chain detailing and a dramatic feathered halter accent that added both softness and grandeur.
The silhouette transitioned into a bold explosion of voluminous red feathers that cascaded down the skirt into a sweeping train, creating rich texture and dynamic movement. Fierce yet feminine, the look embodied pure red-carpet drama with undeniable presence.
Saga Adeolu

Chioma Ikokwu (Chioma Good Hair)
Chioma Ikokwu turned the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards into her own golden moment, appearing in a sculptural creation by Amy Aghomi that blurred the line between couture and art.
The gown unfolded in a tightly sculpted mermaid silhouette drenched in sequins, beads, and crystals, but it was the movement of the piece that defined it, dramatic gold formations bursting outward like molten matter frozen mid-explosion.
Chioma elevated the entire vision with a sleek, high ponytail, glowing bronze makeup, and statement dangling earrings that complemented the dress perfectly. Her poised, regal pose against the massive, glowing golden orb backdrop created a powerful, goddess-like presence.
Akin Faminu
Akin Faminu redefined black-tie elegance at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, stepping out in a meticulously detailed suit designed by Deji &Kola that leaned fully into couture precision.
The sharp black ensemble was elevated with flowing silver and white beaded scrollwork that moved across the sleeves and trousers, introducing texture and a sense of controlled opulence to the tailored silhouette. Lydia Lawrence-Nze
Just like Nana Akua Addo’s conceptual design, Lydia Lawrence-Nze delivered another creative, conceptual moment at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, courtesy of Lagos fashion designer Maya and Stitches, as she stunned in this architectural masterpiece.
The actress commanded attention in a sculptural white gown that felt equal parts regal and futuristic. The standout feature was the breathtaking back construction, massive pleated, fan-like panels radiating outward like the wings of a majestic butterfly or the tail of an exotic bird. These structured layers were edged in a rich magenta-purple tie-dye effect, giving the gown an organic, watercolour quality that beautifully contrasted the crisp white base.
The styling was equally intentional: short natural hair, minimal glowing makeup, and a powerful three-quarter back pose that allowed the dress to take full focus.
