By Afrocritik’s Editorial Board
Afrocritik, the continent’s leading platform for African culture criticism and commentary, has released The Afrocritik Report 2025.
The essay-driven report brings together a diverse team of critics, journalists, thinkers, and cultural analysts to examine the defining moments and conversations across music, film, literature, and the broader creative economy. Through essays, data-driven insights, and critical reflections, the report provides a comprehensive view of the forces shaping Africa’s rapidly evolving cultural landscape.

Speaking on the release of the report, Emmanuel “Waziri” Okoro, Managing Editor of Afrocritik, emphasised the publication’s broader goal. “The Afrocritik Report 2025 is part of our commitment to documenting African culture with rigour and purpose. Beyond celebrating the art, we aim to explore the systems, conversations, and histories that influence it.”
With its mix of long-form analysis, critical essays, and cultural commentary, The Afrocritik Report 2025 serves as both a reflection on the past year and a reference point for understanding the trajectory of African culture in a global context.
