Masobe Books Acquires Akwaeke Emezi’s Tenth Novel, “Son of the Morning”

Masobe Books has announced its acquisition of Son of the Morning, the tenth novel by award-winning Nigerian author, Akwaeke Emezi. Renowned for their bold storytelling that bridges Igbo traditions, spirituality, and modern identity, Emezi continues to expand their distinctive literary universe. Son of the Morning reinforces their reputation as an imaginative and daring voice in contemporary African literature.

Masobe Books previously published the Nigerian edition of Emezi’s Somadina, a national book award finalist, and now adds Son of the Morning to its growing catalogue of African literature.

Sharing insight into their novel, Emezi wrote on Instagram:

“A few years ago, I sat down to write what I thought would be a quick little smutty novel. 100k words later, we now have SON OF THE MORNING, a paranormal romance novel with Black southern gothic vibes, featuring a love triangle involving the devil himself.”
