Ghanaian nurse oncologist, Naomi Oye Ohene Oti, has earned international acclaim by winning the esteemed 2025 Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award in Dubai. The recognition, which comes with a $250,000 cash prize, honours her outstanding dedication and impact in the field of oncology nursing.
Naomi, who works at the National Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine Centre, Korle Bu, was celebrated upon her return to Ghana by family, colleagues, and well-wishers. In an emotional statement, she noted that the award goes beyond personal achievement, it honours the tireless efforts of oncology nurses across Ghana, Africa, and the world.

“This award is a catalyst for change and a testament to the impact of nursing excellence”, she said. “I envision nurses taking more prominent roles in healthcare, and this win will contribute to capacity building in our field, especially for children”.
Launched in 2021 by Aster DM Healthcare, the Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award recognises the extraordinary contributions of nurses around the world across various areas including leadership, research, innovation, and community service.
