South African Crime Drama Series, “Bad Influencer”, Hits Netflix This October

Bad Influencer, a South African series created by Zimbabwean-South African filmmaker, Kudi Maradzika, is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on 31st October 2025.

Bad Influencer, a South African series created by Zimbabwean-South African filmmaker, Kudi Maradzika (BET’s Isono (2020) and Black Tax (2020)) is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on 31st October 2025. First look images and the series’ trailer have also been released.

The crime drama follows two women as they attempt to outsmart both crime lords and law enforcement. The official logline reads: “When a small-time con artist and single mum, BK, must provide for her son with special needs, she teams up with wannabe luxury influencer Pinky to sell fake luxury handbags online. Their scheme draws the attention of Bra Alex, a notorious criminal in a counterfeiting syndicate, as well as law enforcement. Caught between criminals and cops, the unlikely duo must outfox both to stay out of jail, survive, and thrive.”

Jo-Anne Reyneke (Side Dish (2018); Black Tax) and Cindy Mahlangu (Kings of Jo’Burg (2020); Blood & Water (2020)) star in the lead roles as BK and Pinky, respectively. Also cast in the series are Thapelo Mokoena, Mpilo Shabalala, Hamilton Dlamini, Vincent Mahlape, Modise Motaung, Kamo Pule, Emmanuel Castis, Julia Anastasopoulos, Brendon Daniels, Aubrey Poo, Nat Ramabulana, Lerato Nxumalo, and Charlie Bouguenon. Former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, will also feature on the show.

Bad Influencer is developed by Maradzika’s Lincoln Green Media and produced by Gambit Films (Blood & Water; Unseen (2023); Blood Legacy (2024)). The show’s directors are Keitumetse Qhali (Blood & Water) and Ari Kruger (Tali’s Wedding Diary (2017); Tali’s Baby Diary (2021); Tali’s Joburg Diary (2022)), with Rick Joaquim (Little Big Mouth (2021)) as director of photography.

Maradzika also serves as executive producer along with Nosipho Ngoasheng Dumisa, who doubles as creative producer on the show, as well as Bradley Joshua, Benjamin Overmeyer, Simon Beesley, Travis Taute, and Daryne Joshua.
