South African Pop sensation, Tyla, is set to make history as the first African to host the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, airing live on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The annual event, famous for celebrating fan favourites across film, television, music, and sports, adds another significant milestone to Tyla’s fast-rising global profile.

Notably, she is also nominated in two major categories at the event, including Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for “Show Me Love”, her collaboration with WizTheMc and bees & honey.
Tyla’s latest milestone comes on the heels of her double nomination at the upcoming 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs), where she’s up for ‘Favourite Afrobeats Artiste’ alongside fellow African stars Asake, Rema, Tems, and Wizkid, and ‘Favourite Female R&B Artiste’ alongside SZA, Kehlani, Summer Walker, and Muni Long.

Her rapid rise continues to affirm her growing global influence, with her presence extending to the upcoming Smurfs animated film, where she features on the official soundtrack alongside Rihanna, who voices Smurfette in the movie set to premiere July 18, 2025.
Following the announcement, Tyla reacted to the news with a post on X (formerly Twitter) that read, “I’m really about to host the Kids’ Choice Awards”, in what seemed like a mix of excitement and surprise. From chart-topping success to award stages and animated soundtracks, Tyla’s 2025 is already shaping up to be unforgettable.
