An Enugu Homecoming, a docu-reality film produced and directed by fast-rising Nigerian filmmaker Dika Ofoma, is set to premiere on YouTube on 31st January, 2026.
The film is anchored by Nigerian actor and filmmaker Uzoamaka Power, and explores Enugu through the eyes of its people, focusing on young creatives and innovators working in and around the Eastern Nigerian city. Conceived as reflective and celebratory, An Enugu Homecoming presents a portrait of a city in motion, shaped by a rich cultural heritage, sustained by its people, and carried forward by its youth.
Ofoma, who is known for multiple acclaimed short films set in Enugu— including A Japa Tale (2023), A Quiet Monday (2023), God’s Wife (2024), and Obi Is a Boy (2025)—described the film as both a return and a reintroduction to the city, and to the possibilities it continues to offer. “It felt right when Eke (Urum) reached out to make this film about the city I now call home and engage with young people like myself who are doing incredible stuff”, the director said.

He added, “It made me see the city with new eyes as well, and it felt grounded having Uzoamaka as the anchor through which we see Enugu, and the nostalgia most people associate with the city, from her own personal stories from her secondary school and university days”.
For Power, participating in the documentary felt like a full-circle moment. “I went to secondary school in Enugu and university in Nsukka, so returning as a host exploring the city was both nostalgic and exciting. I was eager to go back to a city that has grown to be so much more than what it was the last time I was there,” she explained.
“This documentary was a way to spotlight young people in Enugu who are doing excellent work, especially within the growing tech community,” she added. “I truly believe a place is only as great as its youth, and this film shows just how much talent, energy, and vision exist in Enugu. It was a fun journey back home, a celebration of a city being made welcoming by young people who are actively building its future. I could never have said no to doing this project, and I’m thankful I was asked in the first place.”

Executive producer Eke Urum traces the origin of the film to the Enugu Tech Festival that held in 2025. “The idea to shoot this film came after we participated in Enugu Tech Festival in May of 2025 and had the opportunity to be in the city, connect with a lot of people doing interesting things in Enugu, and feel the energy, the growth and the beauty of the place”, Urum recalled. “That led me to start talking to other Enugu people, including Dika and Uzoamaka, about their connection to Enugu, and gradually that grew into shooting and documenting the stories that came out of it”.
An Enugu Homecoming is produced by Idunoba Entertainment in conjunction with Voice of the East, and supported by Risevest, Assetbase, Hisa, and Landmark Nike Lake Resort.
